  • Engage Sunday at The Heights

    August 14, 2010

Falls Creek Week 4 Check out the following article at The Sound Opinion featuring Engage Sunday at our church The Heights: Volunteers leave fingerprints of God while serving community.

Here's an excerpt from the article: It wasn't a typical Sunday morning worship service — it was more. On "Engage Sunday," almost 2,000 people from The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas left their pews and displayed Christ's love by serving others.

Before heading out into the community, the congregation gathered for prayer, worship and a reminder of what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. During this time, Logan Walter, lead singer of the band Dutton who leads worship for their contemporary service, selected songs which reflected the missions-oriented theme.

"The point of a worship service is never to be served by God," Walter said. "A worship service is an opportunity for us to honor God with our worship, and Christ tells us in Matthew 25:40, that whatever we do unto the least of these, we do unto Him. That was the goal of Engage Sunday: to serve Christ by reaching out to the world around us."

  • Amplify SEC 2010

    July 30, 2010

Falls Creek Week 4This weekend Dutton will be leading worship for SEC 2010 at the Frisco Convention Center in Frisco, TX.

"The purpose of SEC is to see Texas students give their life for the sake of sharing Jesus Christ. More than a conference, SEC Twenty Ten is about students taking another step in the direction of becoming a part of the greatest mission in the world. It's the same mission the disciples, Paul and the New Testament Church purposed in their hearts to achieve with their lives. Paul wrote to encourage believers in Thessalonica "For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere.." (1 Thess. 1:8, ESV). The desire of SEC Twenty Ten is for students to accept God's call to amplify the message of Christ from their lips and from their lives."
